Accessible Hotel Accommodation
-
Has anyone experienced accessibility issues with hotel accommodation even through the facility states that they are accessible, eg hoist not being able to fit under a bed?

One of our members has started a vlog and inspects hotel rooms for accessibility. It's a work in progress though! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmrXkvNkg61hV3Y7bhYkzTg

We have had good experiences with Quest apartments in their accessible rooms.
May still need to check re the bed hight in standard rooms.

This is great. Is there anyway Scott would like to put in an article promoting his content in the Travel section? I'm finding the Accessible accommodation really useful as it also provides short videos for people looking for accommodation. https://www.accessibleaccommodation.com.au/. Have Wheelchair will travel is also a good resource. It would be great if Scott could show us how his wheelchair copes with space around the beds etc.

I'll let Scott know and he might become an active member in the forum

@Nadelle-M All the time. That is why we travel with bed extenders and also use sites like accessible accommodation and have wheelchair will travel to get feedback from other people who have stayed there. https://www.accessibleaccommodation.com.au/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI1v__zfT46QIVy34rCh21QQKLEAAYASAAEgKmr_D_BwE, https://havewheelchairwilltravel.net/. If going somewhere it is worth asking either of those communities if someone else has been there.

A friend of mine works for getaboutable, which is like an aggregate website for accessible traveling and has some features to help with finding accessible accommodation too throughout Australia!
I realise that I'm about a year and a half late with my contribution to this thread, but hopefully there's some lurkers that might find this info helpful.
